Welcome to Ochre Midwifery in Alice Springs, where private Midwife, ​Leeanne Pendleton, embraces the entirety of your journey into motherhood.

I have 13 years experience as a Midwife, beginning my career in the UK ​and attending homebirths from early in my training. I have worked across ​many areas of Midwifery, always aiming to work as a private Midwife.

Homebirth is an empowering and life-changing experience that should be ​available to all, so I have finally brought my skills and passion into private ​practice here in Mparntwe.

While homebirth is where my heart is, the most important thing for every ​woman and family is to have high quality, client-centered, respectful care ​during their pregnancy and birth journey and to be fully supported in the ​choices they make and I strive to support all clients in these ways.

I offer in-home antenatal, labour, and postpartum care until your baby is 6 ​weeks old, with an option for pre and postnatal care only if you plan to ​birth in the hospital. I can also provide birth support in the hospital instead ​of homebirth if this is where you intend to birth.

I will provide you with comprehensive holistic care, practical education and ​emotional support throughout your pregnancy, birthing and postpartum ​journey. You do not need to be 'low risk' to have private Midwifery care or ​a homebirth. Private Midwives can care for everybody, making individual ​recommendations to suit your needs, ultimately you are the decision maker.

I am able to refer you for pathology tests and ultrasound scans and ​prescribe medications when required and we can access consultation from ​an obstetrician if you choose to do so.

If Medicare eligible you will receive some rebate for the antenatal and ​postnatal care you receive. Some health insurance policies may also rebate ​for services I offer.

I hope that one day Private Midwifery is fully rebated by Medicare ​because continuity of care with a Midwife is consistently proven to be the ​safest care with the best outcomes and should be accessible for all. While ​this isn't a reality, please talk to me if you think you would struggle to pay ​the fees so we can work out a payment plan/exchange that works for us ​both.

$1,000 - $1,800 rebate from Medicare if ​eligible.

A birth pool is great for early ​labour at home if you are birthing ​at the hospital or you may wish to ​have a pool ceremony after birth ​if you are unable to use one during ​labour/birth.

5 weeks hire (including liner): $250

1 week (Including liner): $150

extra liner: $90

extra week hire: $40
